Sports Medicine

Tarpon Orthopedics takes excellent care of athletes, no matter your age or skill level. Getting hurt can be a minor setback if it is a muscle strain or ankle sprain, but when a serious injury occurs, the expertise of a sports medicine doctor should not be underestimated. At Tarpon, our doctors have specific training to treat injuries that happen during sports or fitness, including the use of arthroscopy when necessary.

During your initial appointment, our goal is to understand what happened to you and the impact it is having on your life. This will help us identify the best possible treatment options that will meet your goals for recovery. Many of our athletes are able to recover and return to play without having surgery because our doctors are experts in physical medicine and rehabilitation. In other words, we focus on the least invasive treatments for sports injuries and orthopedic conditions.

Our goal is to avoid surgery, but if it becomes clear that surgery is necessary, we will recommend a minimally invasive procedure, such as arthroscopy. Arthroscopic surgery is often used to treat sports injuries with incisions that are smaller, which means there is less pain, less scarring, and less time on the bench.
